THE CHAMPION!!!
Since I’m in a fantastic mood after watching the Rangers lay some massive pipe on the Devils’ foreheads in Game 1, I figured now is as good a time as any to reveal the winner of the highly disappointing (at least in my view) 2008 Tournament of Hotties Championship Game– HAYDEN PANETTIERE (No, that’s not Hayden pictured above, that’s one of the hotter chicks– Joanna Krupa– that you all deemed unworthy of championship glory. Again, I promise I’m not bitter). In a matchup reminiscent of Monday’s College Basketball Championship, Hayden overcame the 2-percentage-point deficit she was facing at 12pm PST on Tuesday, and eeked out a 38 VOTE win when the buzzer sounded at midnight after more than 1600 ballots were cast. So congratulations to Hayden, Subway Chatter’s 2008 Tournament of Hotties Champion!!! For Ms. Panettiere’s loyal throng of supporters, we’ve assembled this little championship shrine in her honor for you to enjoy…

Putting that photo album together was pretty difficult considering it was nearly impossible to find pics of Hayden in which she didn’t look like she was reprising her role as Sheryl Yoast from Remember the Titans. In other words, I felt like a pedophile while doing it… and I still do.
Thanks to all who voted in and followed our inaugural Tournament of Hotties. We look forward to putting together an even better one next year. In the meantime, we’d like to hold a bi-weekly Hottie Competition where you, SC Nation, not only vote on the competitors, but you also pick who will be facing off against each other every other week. Simply submit your favorite hottie (it can be a famous chick, a not-so-famous model, or some girl that lives in your dorm) to us at hotchicks@subwaychatter.com, or at any of our other email addresses and we’ll pit your girl against another babe to see who’ll be the hottest hottie of the moment. We look forward to checking out your submissions and, as always, thanks for reading!!!

THE CHAMPIONSHIP GAME!!!
Frankly, I’m just astonished by what transpired in the Foxy Four and, for that matter, in the Regional Finals as well. My only hope is that the actual Final Four will be just as unpredictable because that may make up for the lack of Madness we had this March (save for Stephen Curry). Since I’m practically speechless over the crimes committed against Alessandra Ambrosio, Stacey Keibler, and Marissa Miller– though Miller kinda got what she had coming to her after that dubious win over Double-A (Not to mention the injustices carried out upon Penelope Cruz, Adriana Lima, and Julianne Hough in the earlier rounds. Yeah, I’m bitter. Big woop, wanna fight about it?)– I’ll just introduce the title game participants and be outta here: it’s Hayden Panettiere v. Carrie Underwood. If you want to blame anyone for this somewhat lackluster (both of these chicks are ridiculously hot, so that’s obviously a relative term) matchup, point the finger at the dude from Virginia who voted for each of these chicks more than 400 times. Sorry, we don’t like to call our readers out like that, but if you’re going to waste your entire Friday night voting, and you continue to do it from the same IP address so that we know who you are and where you’re voting from, well then you fully deserve to feel the wrath of SC Nation (in a figurative sense; please, we don’t need another crazy here). Championship Game polls stay open until 12AM PST Wednesday and the winner will be unveiled Wednesday afternoon. Get your vote on and good luck to our contenders…

REGIONAL FINALS!!!
Yes, SC Nation, the Regional Finals of the 2008 Tournament of Hotties has arrived! Unfortunately, there were no Stephen Curry-like performances to speak of in the Sexy 16. The closest thing we had to a Davidson– 13th-ranked Candice Hillebrand– was outfoxed by America’s hottest living jinx, Jessica Simpson, in the Music Region. And 6th-ranked Shakira– who was apparently riding a massive wave of support from guys in their mid-20s who still believe Shakira’s hips don’t like (hi-yo!)– finally ran out of gas against country cutie Carrie Underwood. And yes, you’re reading that right– it’s gonna be Tony (H)omo’s GF and Ex duking it out to see who’ll be moving on to the Foxy 4!!! Not surprisingly, the other matchups are just as good, with Jessica Alba and Jessica Biel squaring off in the Movie Region, while Hayden Panettiere and Stacey Keibler vie for the title of hottest hottie in the TV Region. The matchup of the Tournament thus far is in the Modeling Region though, where Alessandra Ambrosio and Marisa Miller will meet in a contest that could just as easily double as the Championship Game for the Tournament of Hotties. Alright, enough previewing… it’s time to vote!!! Regional Finals polls will stay open until 12AM Tuesday.

THE SEXY 16!!!
If the first round was a showcase for favorites, then the second-round-stage was dominated by underdogs. Sure, top seeds Jessica Alba, Jessica Simpson, and Giselle steamrolled into their respective regional semi-finals, but lower seeds were all the rage in the Music Region, where Cinderella 13th-seeded Candice Hillebrand continued her amazing run as she ran it up on 5-seed Gwen Stefani, and 7-seed Carrie Underwood took down 2nd-seeded Christina Aguilera in the battle of the blondes. Perhaps the biggest surprise of the tournament (at least as far as the staff here at SC is concerned) continues to be 6-seed Shakira, who continued her dominating march by humiliating an overmatched Ashley Tisdale, blowing her out by 30-percentage-points. And there was a noteworthy comeback in the Modeling Region, where cagey vet Alessandra Ambrosio completely altered her strategy at half-time Sunday night, deciding to go with the swimwear approach over lingerie, and 4-seed Daniella Sarahyba couldn’t slow the more up-tempo style as Ambrosio turned a six-point deficit into a 20-point trouncing. But the round’s best matchup was in the TV Region, where 8th-seeded Hayden Panettiere managed to hold off 16th-seeded Sofia Vergara by just 20 total votes after more than 2,850 were cast (Update: many of you saw this earlier as top-seed Sofia Vergara having been upset by 8th-seeded Hayden Panettiere. Our apologies. Someone was a sleep deprived a**hole this morning (me) and reversed the two.)
Now the tournament really starts to get interesting as each matchup features the cream of the hottie crop. Will Candice Hillebrand’s wild ride finally end at the hands of the heavily favored Jessica Simpson? And who’ll emerge victorious in the stacked Modeling Region, where Adriana Lima/Marisa Miller and Giselle/Alessandra Ambrosio will face off in what are sure to be instant classics? Only you, SC Nation, can decide. Cast your vote to see who’ll be moving on to the Regional Finals! Polls stay open until 12AM PST Saturday.

SECOND ROUND
Just like the first round of the NCAA Tourney, the first round of the Tournament of Hotties was relatively tame… and then all hell broke loose on Friday. 16th-seeded Sofia Vergara knocked off 1st-seed Julianne Hough in the TV Region, and there were upsets galore in the Music Region– after a 5,168 vote barn-burner, 14th-ranked Ashley Tisdale took down 3rd-seeded Rihanna by just 30 votes, while 13th-ranked Candice Hillebrand rolled past 4th-ranked Anna Kournikova. And that’s forgetting a stunning comeback by 6th-ranked Shakira, who made up an 18-percentage-point deficit to defeat 11th-ranked Willa Ford.
Now the matchups become even more intriguing in the Second Round, with the Movie Region featuring a battle royale between 1st-seed Jessica Alba and the up-and-coming 8th-seed Megan Fox, while the Modeling Region will be the site of sure-fire slugfests between Adriana Lima/Miranda Kerr and Daniella Sarahyba/Alessandra Ambrosio. Alright SC Nation, you know the drill by now– check out the chicks, cast your vote, and help us crown the Hottest Hottie of them all! Second-round voting will remain open until 12AM PST Wednesday.

ROUND ONE
On behalf of the rest of the Subway Chatter staff, I’d like to welcome you to our inaugural Tournament of Hotties. Thanks to MFH, we have a stunning assembly of gorgeous women ready to be perused, and YOU, Subway Chatter Nation, will vote to decide which lovely lady claims the 2008 Tournament of Hotties Title. 64 of the most beautiful women alive have been broken down into four “regions” based on the area that has brought them the greatest acclaim– Movies, Television, Music, and Modeling. We devised our rankings by considering factors such as each chick’s recent accomplishments in their respective field, their relative popularity, and, of course, attractiveness. As MFH said, feel free to let us know how you feel about the rankings via comments and/or email. We know they aren’t perfect, but we also wanted to leave some room for “uspets” and “Cinderellas.” We hope you enjoy voting on (aka checking out) our little collection of hotties as much as we did while putting it together…

YO SERIOUSLY…. Do I have to start complaining about the officials or something because Rachel McAdams should be a 10 seed that can win it all, not get knocked off in the first round by some chick that took it in the butt from Billy Bob.
Also, one problem with the pool that should be fixed for round 2… everyone can vote as many times as they want or repeatedly for the same person… as I have been for Ms. Rachel McAdams for the last 15 hours (and she is still losing).
Deeper insights to come after round 1
P.S. Was I the only one in America not completely disappointed in the refs in the Georgia game…

altho Gisele is a number one seed, the fact that she is beating Kim Smith 66% to 34% is reason #1 why us men make horrible horrible judgements.
That is just awful.
March 28th, 2008 at 11:35 am
Two things, did Sofia Vergara lose to Hayden Panettiere, and if so then how?
My biggest complaint of this third round is how the heck can Marissa Miller beat out Adriana Lima. Obviously all the ladies here are sexy, and Marissa certainly is but she doesn’t hold a candle to Andriana Lima. If she advances then thanks can go out to the SI swimsuit issue. Without that then i don’t think she’d be advancing this far.
How does Eva Mendez not get into the bracket?????
March 28th, 2008 at 5:03 pm
tonezak–
couldn’t agree with you more on the first two. as far as Eva goes, none of the 3 writers here are big fans of her’s, though in retrospect she may have deserved a spot in the Tourney after her performance in the opening scene of “We Own the Night” sent her RPI and Strength of Schedule into the top-20
April 1st, 2008 at 11:54 pm
tonezak,
To address your Eva Mendez question, I did have her on my initial list of about 100 women. Unfortunately in the movie region there were 10 or so chicks that I figured all to be about equal vying for the final 5 spots, of which one was EM, however in the final tally she didn’t get enough mentions by my friends to get in. Next year I will add her for sure though. Or maybe we hold an NIT and she makes it into that field?
As for Sofia Vergara, she shouldn’t have even been in the 2nd round, Julianne Hough should have smoked her. There’s something wrong with all of you who voted against her.
My biggest complaint is Kim Kardashian. I don’t think she’s attractive at all, and I’d like to know how she made the tourney field when the selection committee did not have her name on the list they passed over to the media.
April 2nd, 2008 at 12:35 am
I’m not a kardashian guy either, but certain less-involved members of the committee wanted to put their stamp on the field somehow, and they figured kimmy deserved an at-large bid because of her recent dominance in the Reality TV Conference. Vergara earned an at-large bid too for her high RPI coming out of the Sitcom Conference, though there’s no question Julianne Hough should’ve stomped her. I think Julianne was hurt by the fact that there were no suggestive photos of her available online.
